Being Fathered with Lexie
We are so pumped to have Lexie share with us about being Fathered. Lexie lives in Nashville, TN where she was born and raised. She is beyond intentional, genuine, and kind-hearted. We are BEYOND excited for you all to hear what she has to say about our Father.
What does it mean to you to be Fathered?
To me, being Fathered means having a constant companion. Knowing God, I have never felt alone. Even in times of difficulty, I have found peace in the Lord's presence within me. I am captivated by the stillness the Father provides when I seek Him. For me, being Fathered encapsulates being known deeply by someone who provides infinitely more than I could dream a friend could even provide.
What is your favorite characteristic of the Father and why?
God is so immense, so omnipresent, so indescribable. I love the mystery of His greatness. He is not predictable, and that brings an excitement to life with Him. For me, God’s vast capacity and immense love have always been a grounding piece of my relationship with Him. While I often have a lot of questions, I know that he is unchanging and eternal. The security of his presence, even while being indescribable, is my biggest comfort.
How does knowing the Father help define who you are?
Knowing the Father has become the most integral part of my identity. We live in a world where we define ourselves by what we do (i.e. your job, your relationship status, your degree, your financial status). Labeling ourselves and others by our occupation or achievements is normal. Even when we don't mean to, we contribute to defining ourselves and others by earthly measures. So, our culture promotes identity based on successes or involvements. I have found that the only grounding identity for me is being a child of God. When earthly successes fail me, or earthly labels change, being known by God remains. Because of God, I can be grateful for earthly successes while trusting only in the identity He has given me.
